I've retired the LDoA server indefinitely. I really wasn't enjoying working on it and the server machine died. Rather than work to get it back up at this time I've decided to retire it. I may pick it up again at some future time.

You find yourself in the village of Land’s Edge, a quaint hamlet besieged by monsters and cut-off from the rest of the world. Councilman Tomas has confiscated what scant possessions you had managed to accumulate to assist the war effort and then had the nerve to ask for your help in saving the town. You are left with only your spirit shard. A mysterious item you've had from birth. Perhaps here, in the highlands, you can uncover it's mysteries as you find your way through the world. Reluctantly, you set out to discover what you can about the area.

The Lost Dungeons of Adventure (LDoA) is an Action PW with focus on dungeon delving, item acquisition and leveling. You can expect to find challenging opponents and logical progression through the world. Players are typically introduced to new areas through the achievement (storyline) quests. Risk vs. Reward is carefully balanced to make the world challenging without being tedious and there are no rest/class/level restrictions in place.

Some of our features include:

Pseudo-instanced dungeons - Some areas are limited to a single party at a time. This feature allows for more elaborate quests such as requiring the party to defeat a particular number of enemies in order to obtain a reward.
Heroic monster spawns - These spawns are more powerful versions of more common opponents. Heroic encounters are the main source of mundane magic gear.
Linked monster spawns - These are groups of monsters that work together. If you can beat them, you’ll receive an XP bonus.
Custom, unique powers obtainable through quests - Some of these feats boost your characters abilities. Other feats allow you to teleport to different spots in the world.
Dynamic quest system that tracks your progress through the Journal.
Nytur's battle system integrated into the world - You can participate in epic battles with waves of challenging enemies and many allies to assist you.
Runic enhancement system that allows your items to grow in power with you.
A death system that puts you into XP debt rather than XP Loss
Kaedrin's PrC Pack integrated into the world adding new spells and classes
Charlievale's Item Appearance changer.

The basic world design follows that of commercial MMORPGs where the world is mostly static and the players progress through them as they level. To support this we use NESS to do most of our mob spawning. I have years of experience using the NESS system (as well as some of the NWN2 NESS development) and am able to use it to it's fullest to create many interesting encounters.

We are constantly improving and adding to the world.

We have added to the staff roster. Kieron hails from a number of projects and has shown his building chops re-doing the Village of Land's End. He has also starting running some DM events. The player response has been overwhelmingly positive.

Custom Downloader back on line

The major addition this release is the addition of GiantHome. It was introduced in a limited manner last update and now it has been filled out. There will be ongoing testing and tweaking of this zone as it meets our formidable host of players.

There are two new achievement quests offered by Archmage Hemlock. Levels range is 10-15.

Unfortunately this update doesn't have as much as I'd have liked. I spent most of the time integrating Nytur's Battle system into the quest system. I've added the "Liberate the Upper outpost" quest (which culimiates in a battle for the zone) and a standard, repeatable battle quest from the Commander of the Wall in the Upper Outpost (available after you complete the liberate Achievement quest) which dynamically scales to the player's level so you should be able to find a challenge there no matter what level you are.

There are other odds and ends added in.

You will have to download the new files. I've had some trouble with the upload this time so please let me know if either Worldgate or the custom download app fails.

This includes a fix for some weapons being incorrectly classified as light.
I have completely re-done Mirj. Fixing a number of issues, itemizing it and adding the boss spawns. I've also completely re-done the Wrath Mountains area. It still has the same mobs but has been rebuilt. I've also started a level 16+ dungeon off this area. Feel free to stop by and check out the portion that's already been built. I've also started building the upper Outpost area. This area is off of the Middle Outpost and has been populated. level 9-12.

There are a host of other minor fixes that I won't list out.

Next update will focus on achievement quests including the new zones as well as iteminzing Wrath Mountains and GiantHome.

Worldgate support added

We've added support for worldgate downloading of the required files. Simply run the worldgate client. Click the new button and then the "from URL" button and put in this string: chunkychode.com/nwn2server

Validate with "Test and Exit" and you should be good to go.

11/11 Server Update

This is a pretty big update, although much of what is done has been bug fixing and optimizations. I've changed a great deal of the underlying code (especially regarding XP and Quests). I've made use of a lot of MoTB content so this release requies you have the expansion to play.

In this update the entire Estate of Unrest is populated and itemized, along with a few achievement quests to go with it (speak to Oswald Tiberius Farnsworth IV in the Land's Edge Inn for details).

Also, using your spirit stone now has an option to sunder runes from equipped items. The first time is free and has an increase cost in both XP and Gold for future uses. I'm still working out the details of how this is going to work but this will allow those who want to shift around the runes they have in response to the new runes added (see server information for an updated description of enhancement runes)

You will need to update to the latest .PWC file (link at bottom of the page).

Minor update to the hak file

UPDATE: 10/20: There was a problem with the hak pack. I've uploaded a new one and you should run the downloader app to get it.

I integrated the MoTB .2da files with my changes and uploaded a new .hak file to the downloader app. It's fairly small and should take just a few seconds to download. You can probably play without it but will be unable to access some MoTB content.

Issues with the hireable crafters.

There have been some reports that the hireable crafters have been acting up. (e.g. Automatically joining with you when you log on). If you experience any of these issues please report them to me via e-mail in my profile or a PM on the bioware/obsidian boards (username: loudent2)
